On Tuesday, November 4th, 2025, the following seats will be open for election in the City of Iona:
1 (one) City of Iona Mayor
2 (two) City Council Members
For those seeking to declare themselves as a candidate for public office in the City of Iona, please read the following information:
- Political Signs – It shall be unlawful for any person to erect, install, attach or paint, or cause to be erected, installed, attached or painted, election posters or signs upon public or private property, real or personal, in the state of Idaho, without permission from the owner or occupant of such property. Campaign signs are not to be placed on public property, in the 45-degree angle before an intersection or on utility poles. All campaign signs are required by Idaho Code to have a disclaimer on them that states who is sponsoring or providing the signs.
- Campaigning on Election Day – Candidates can campaign on Election Day, however, candidates should be aware that campaigning within or near a polling place on Election Day is a criminal offense. On Election Day, campaigning or distributing candidate materials within the polling place or in any building in which an election is being held are prohibited. Campaigning or distributing candidate materials are also prohibited within 100 feet of a polling place, whether on public or private property.
- When is Election Day? – Election Day will be Tuesday, November 4th, 2025. The polls will be open from 8:00am-8:00pm.
- Campaign Finance Requirements – A candidate must begin filing on a monthly basis as soon as they have either received or spent a total of $500 on their campaign. As soon as the candidate begins to receive or spend monies, they should start keeping detailed reports on these transactions so that in the case they approach the $500 amount, they will be able to file an accurate accounting. Those who think they will be receiving donations and/or spending monies may want to get the process started by creating an account on the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.idaho.gov under Elections Division à Campaign Finance Portal. Candidates may appoint themselves or someone else who is a registered voter in Idaho to be their treasurer. Failure to abide by these laws will result in $50.00/day accruing fines for each day their filings are late.
- Candidate Filing Deadlines – Petitions must be filed with the clerk of the respective district between August 18 – August 29, 2025 by 5PM for November 4th Consolidated Elections. The City building located at 3548 N Main St., Iona, ID. 83427 will be open until 5pm on this day to accommodate the filing deadline.
